LaRoque Drops Lawsuit, Pays Court Fees
State lawmaker Stephen LaRoque has dropped his defamation lawsuit against his rival, costing him thousands of dollars to do so.
The Kinston Free Press reports the Republican representative from Lenoir County has dropped his lawsuit against Democrat Van Braxton.
LaRoque had filed a suit over a campaign mailer the Braxton campaign sent out last year when the two ran for the seat in the N.C. House of Representatives.
The paper says LaRoque had to pay Braxton $17,250 in court fines.
