LaRoque Drops Lawsuit, Pays Court Fees

State lawmaker Stephen LaRoque has dropped his defamation lawsuit against his rival, costing him thousands of dollars to do so.

The Kinston Free Press reports the Republican representative from Lenoir County has dropped his lawsuit against Democrat Van Braxton.

LaRoque had filed a suit over a campaign mailer the Braxton campaign sent out last year when the two ran for the seat in the N.C. House of Representatives.

The paper says LaRoque had to pay Braxton $17,250 in court fines.

Its his nonprofit IRS I-990s that tell who he is and how he operates. He cheats the taxpayer, does not comply with USDA regs and lies on the tax reports.

This guy is a joke!!He preaches on saving taxpayers money and all the while taking taxpayers money and lending it to people that he knows can not and will not pay it back,so he can take their property!! That's why he settled the suit.To keep people from finding out just what a crook he really is. He is just another small time wannabe politician trying to be big time with other peoples money. There should be an investigation now more than ever and he should have his a-- kicked out, back to small time Kinston where he belongs.

Seems to me it may be deeper. LaJoke is as crooked as a dog's hind leg. A pompous, arrogant, race bating windbag. I was actually surprised that his protege, John Nix, was not voted into the Kinston City Council this past Tuesday. I thought for sure that Stevie would get a speeding ticket from Raleigh to Kinston and drop the race card upon hearing that his stooge Nix was not elected. LaJoke loves to play the guilty by association game. This idiot actually believes that anyone affiliated with the NAACP is a racist, cut and dry. That says a lot since LaJoke and Nix-on are both big tea party disciples.

Well there you go anohter GOP "nonprofit" scammer receding back into the woodwork. Folks need to pay closer attention to those they vote for; this politician and his friends are living off the taxpayers.

Good, now I don't have to use my tax money to finance this radical rat's childish squabbles. He is a disgrace to NC and the GOP.

LaRoque is also very anti-community college for some reason. I am against waste and abuse as the next guy, but community colleges? Are community colleges, which consume less than 5.1% of the total state budget, really the problem with our state? They are probably one of the few state institutions they need to be left alone. There are lines that do not need to be crossed, in my opinion, and LaRoque has crossed them. I voted him for him last time, but it will not happen again. The guy is a radical -- pure and simple.

Really disheartening to read. Always considered LaRoque a friend and above these accusations. Now I'm not too sure...doesn't look good. Seems obvious by dropping this lawsuit he doesn't want further snooping in his affairs. That, to me, is a signal something ain't kosher.

Yeah, this guy's "non profits" seem to be pretty profitable for his family and friends at the taxpayers expense. I mean BIGTIME! And it looks by the investigation that he has been breaking every rule in the book for quite awhile now. That "public servant" thing really pays well.

To hear LaRoque talk, no one is smarter than he. He has a past with the GOP. A few years ago he whined and griped and sued his way into a second primary which he lost like he did the first one, all the while blaming the GOP establishment (Art Pope). Then like a whipped dog goes and apoologizes for the embarrasment he caused the GOP. Stephen LaRoque is a pompous wannabe.
