On the night when they named the court after him, LCC Head Coach Bobby Dawson saw his Lancers use a ferocious comeback to beat Johnston Community College 75-65 on Wednesday night.
LCC (13-6, 9-4) trailed the Jaguars (6-19, 4-10) 45-34 with 13 minutes to go, before going on a 13-1 run to take the lead for good. The run was fueled by Havelock’s Cory Thompson, who scored 10 of the 13 points for the Lancers. Thompson finished with a game high 20. Clinton’s CJ Melvin had 18 for LCC, Kinston’s Mister Height scored 14.
The school named the court after coach Bobby Dawson at halftime. Dawson owns a career record of 522-407 in his 33 years with the Lancers. His first game as head coach was September 1st, 1977.
LCC returns to action this Saturday in Kinston. The Lancers will take on Catawba Valley Community College at 3pm.
