UPDATE: Band Teacher Posts Bond

A middle school band teacher arrested on charges he showed s students a pornographic video in the classroom is no longer behind bars. An official at the Halifax County Jail told WITN Wednesday that Archie McLeod III was out of jail. He had been issued a $40,000 bond after his arrest.

McLeod is due in court next in February. He is charged with eleven counts of disseminating obscene material to minors under the age of 16 and eleven counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 51-year-old McLeod teaches at William R. Davie Middle School in Halifax County. He has been suspended without pay.

The school system says a student recorded the event with their cell phone camera.

Archie McLeod III is charged with eleven counts of disseminating obscene material to minors under the age of 16 and eleven counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 51-year-old McLeod teaches at William R. Davie Middle School in Halifax County.

Deputies say a parent told them the teacher showed the video to students in his classroom on Monday.

The school system says a student recorded the event with their cell phone camera, and deputies confirm that evidence includes a video of the teacher showing the students a sexual act on his laptop. There were 11 students, between the ages of 12 and 14 years old, in the classroom at the time.

McLeod, who has been a teacher for the past 11 years at the school, was suspended without pay.
