Kinston To Hold Tornado Drill

Kinston High School, with help from Kinston and Lenoir County officials, will hold a tornado-based exercise Thursday.

Officials will be simulating the aftermath of a tornado directly impacting both the hospital and school. Exercise operations will take place on the campus of Kinston High School as well as the campus of Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

The Lenoir County Department of Emergency Services, Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston Department of Public Safety, Lenoir County Public Schools and Lenoir County Volunteer Fire Departments are all participating in the drill.

The exercise will focus on key local emergency responder coordination, critical decisions, and integration of the assets necessary to save lives and protect the public.

The exercise will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the school. Responders will be treating volunteers who will be acting as victims and concerned loved ones for the event.
