As of 11:00 pm Thursday, Hurricane Maria's winds were holding at 80 miles per hour. The storm was moving rapidly to the NE at 43 miles per hour. Maria was centered at 38.5 N, 63.5 W or about 760 miles off our coast and moving away.
Maria made her closest pass to eastern Carolina on Thursday afternoon, tracking about 550 miles off the coast during the early afternoon. Outside of an increased risk of dangerous rip currents and some 4-6 foot waves, the storm will have little, if any, impact on our weather.
