The Kinston Indians defeated Lenoir Community College 13-1 in an exhibition contest Wednesday night at Historic Grainger Stadium.
Clayton Cook got the start on the mound for the K-Tribe. LCC struck first as Gabe Brown led off the second inning with a double and later scored on a squeeze play. Kinston would come back in the bottom of the second inning as Abner Abreu hit an RBI triple to tie the score at one. Adam Abraham hit a double to drive in Abreu and give Kinston a 2-1 lead. The K-Tribe would pour it on from there, scoring five more runs in the inning to take a 7-1 lead.
The K-Tribe opens the season on Friday against Winston-Salem at Historic Grainger Stadium. Game time 6:30 pm. First round draft pick Drew Pomeranz will get the opening day start for Kinston. The game will feature a magnet schedule giveaway and fireworks after the game.
