One drug dog helped put 4 suspects behind bars in a little over a week in Beaufort County.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says K-9 Elza found 18 grams of cocaine and other drug paraphernalia following a search at 23 Berts Farm Road in Chocowinity. 32 year-old Ricardo Hopkins is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and other drug offenses.
The Sheriff's Office says Elza also helped put 28-year-old Nathan Smith and 53-year-old Thomas McCoy behind bars. Investigators arrested Smith and McCoy, both of Craven County, following a traffic stop due to expired tags. That's when the drug dog alerted on the car and a search turned up meth and a smoking pipe.
Following the execution of a search warrant at a home at 185 Camp Leach Road in Washington, the Sheriff's Office says Elza found approximately 525 grams of marijuana, 30 small marijuana plants, and plastic baggies used to package marijuana. Investigators arrested 45 year-old Robert Polk Jr. on several drug charges.
