Job Creation Hot Topic At State Of The Region

It's what's on the mind of many people in the east-- jobs. That was the hot topic for state officials and business leaders at the State of the Region meeting Thursday in Greenville. U.S. Senator Kay Hagan spoke at the gathering to say job creation is her top priority.

Our state has a huge military presence, but not as much defense contract jobs as Hagan would like, so she says she will work to create more. Several business leaders also spoke at the conference including Rick Davis of Spirit Aerosystems. The company opened in July in Kinston. He says right now they employ 180 people but are planning to expand soon to 250.
