The Jamesville 10 and under All-Stars won the District 7 Tar Heel Baseball Tournament in Chocowinity by beating Williamston 6-2 in the finals.
Jamesville took a comfortable 6-0 lead in the 4th inning when Joseph Perry drove in two runs on a double down the right field line.
Williamston made things interesting by scoring two runs in the final inning but Jamesville closer Andrew Summerlin closed the door by striking ou the final Williamston batter with two outs and two runners on base.
Jamesville advances to the state tournament which will be held in Hickory on the final weekend on July.
As for the 12U final series, Williamston needed to beat Edenton twice to advance to the state tournament.
Williamston led the first game of the District 7 final 7-3 and eventually held on to win 7-6 to force a winner-take-all game in the nightcap.
Game two was delayed twice by weather. The first delay came during the 3rd inning of a 2-2 game. The second and final delay took place just before 11pm when strong storms passed over the Chocowinity Sports Complex.
Williamston leads the decisive game 7-2 in the top of the 5th inning. The game will resume sometime Thursday evening.
