A city official says It appears a murder-suicide last night in Jacksonville was the result of a lovers triangle. This as the victim may have posted a warning something was about to happen on his Facebook profile.
Dead is 30-year-old Jason Eimer of Jacksonville and Christoffer Apger, a Marine from Camp Lejeune.
Police say just before midnight they got a call about someone shot in the parking lot of the Navy Federal Credit Union on Yopp Road. There they found Eimer in the parking lot behind the credit union in a pickup truck. He had been shot multiple times.
Police say they were told the suspect in the shooting was at the Harley-Davidson dealership on Wilmington Highway. As police arrived, they say Apger walked to the rear of the building and shot himself.
Police have not yet released any details on why the shooting happened, but Jacksonville City Manager Dr. Richard Woodruff says it appears to be the result of a lovers triangle. Officials say Apger was deployed and when he returned, the Marine discovered that his wife had a relationship with Eimer.
Officials says somehow their paths crossed last night and after shooting Eimer, Apger abducted his estranged wife. She was found unharmed at the dealership.
On a public Facebook profile that appears to belong to Eimer, a post was made last night before the man was shot. “If something happens to me tonight i love you all...there are people that have certain information that will help solve any uncertaintees. Please pray for me, i'm doing something i don't want to do. This isnt a joke, please pray for my safety!”
