Jacksonville Firefighters Burn Downtown Home For Training

Jacksonville firefighters are took a hands-on approach to train for fire fighting.

The Jacksonville Department of Public Safety says a home was burned down on Newberry Street in the downtown area for a live fire training exercise Thursday through 5 p.m.

The home at 20 Newberry Street was donated to firefighters.

The home is part of a Clean and Green initiative by the city. There are plans to build a new house on the property.

After the burn, the department had a briefing to find out what they can do to improve their efficiency and response time.
