Billy Bob, I couldn't agree with you more! Dory- they have been looking, they have been all over the place for the last two days. I say this because they have been searching all over the woods and fields from my house for the last two days. @love63- I guess all of the "white men" that get "all the jobs" didn't commit as severe a crime as your husband. I congratulate you for standing by your man, however, the canteen is in my opinion just one more thing that inmates should not be afforded. You are in there for a reason. To have creature comforts is not one of them. I know because I have been to jail in MD and VA and while trivial, they were both for breaking the law.

Although he is a minimum custody inmate, he is a felon. A day after the initial investigation and DOT just now realized they are missing a 2010 F-550 yellow truck. You think the idiots at DOT would have realized that the minute they were questioned. Perquimans Co. DOT does need to be investigated and will no longer receive inmate labor. What a waste of state resources running through the woods all night looking for this idiot. If we had only known that he had wheels all along. Inmate last tracked in Virginia, word is he is heading to MI where he has some family. I sure hope someone spots that bright yellow truck with NC tags on it. Last I remember, MDOT uses orange trucks so someone should notice.

i think that the police need to keep lookin g unstead of sitting on there u know whats.i also think there was a reason why he wanted out even though he shouldnt be runing the streets. if someone was paying more attention than this would of never happen.

That's what the state get my husband has done over 75% of his sentence and that have not yet offer him work release they give all the jobs to the white men and no I'm not racist at all the system should start being fair and stop with all the discrimination. Mr. Johnson may have ran out of canteen money and needed food and cosmetics you wouldn't imagine how much inmates spend a day.

He's a car thief. They are still looking for him in the area where he was last seen. DUHHHHHH HE'S PROBABLY STOLEN ANOTHER CAR AND IS 1000 miles away by now. I don't see the police's reasoning on this one

I do work for the Department of Corrections and "To Nice In Jail" has it right. If you don't do any type of job while in prison ( janitor, kitchen work, etc) and do not have an income, yes you get all that stuff for free.

DUH....why was he allowed to be out on a work crew with DOT when he was originally locked up for 'eluding' officers and stealing cars.....didn't think he'd run again??? There needs to be much stricter meaner criminal system. Dang inmates get all the rights while in jail/prison and the employees are the ones treated unfairly. Bring back capital punishment and chain gangs!

Someone apparently has not had close knowledge of the prison system as you pay for your own medical, meds, etc. IF you also pay for transportation and the lunch bag you received for the day.So don't come up here with some old 1040's saying that is not true in today's prisons.
