Three men have been charged in connection with a rash of copper thefts from Pitt County churches. One of those men has already been charged with similar crimes in Beaufort County.
Joseph Duckett, Mark Heppler and Gustav Heppler, III have been charged in connection with several of the cases.
Pitt County deputies say the two Heppler brothers are charged with 15 counts of felony larceny, while Duckett faces a single count of felony larceny.
The thefts took place between July and November of last year.
Deputies say the arrests solve 15 of the 17 cases of copper being stripped from air conditioning units at Pitt County churches.
Authorities say they were able to make the case against the trio after Beaufort County deputies made an arrest.
Mark Heppler was charged back in November with seven church copper thefts that occurred in Beaufort County.
The two brothers are being held on $150,000 bonds each while Duckett has a $10,000 bond.
