Hurricane Irene Erases Eastern Carolina Drought

Eastern Carolina's drought conditions have been wiped out, thanks to Hurricane Irene.

A new drought map shows no drought conditions for the east, while only Wayne and Duplin counties are listed as abnormally dry.

Before the hurricane many of our counties were under extreme and severe drought conditions. Hurricane Irene dumped between 12" and 14" of rain in many counties on Saturday.
