Hospital Lease Likely Finalized At August 25th Meeting

It looks like the much-delayed lease of Beaufort County Medical Center to University Health Systems will become a done deal in two weeks.

Beaufort County commissioners say agreements for an amended lease agreement with UHS is on the agenda for their August 25th meeting. If finalized, the hospital would be leased to UHS for 30 years with an option to purchase Beaufort County's remaining interest in the hospital.

The county says copies of the transaction documents will be available to the public at the County Manager's Office on West 3rd Street starting on August 15th.

Looking forward to UHS managing the hospital. Been driving to PCMH for 5 years when we neeed medical assistance. Tried going to the BCH, sat in the waiting room for 3 1/2 hours, got up and left, drove to PCMH, was treated within 30 minutes. Best laugh of all? BCH sent me a bill for $175.00 because they took my temp and blood pressure in the triage office and sent me back to the waiting room with the rest of the uninsured.
