Pitt County Deputies are looking a man that broke into a home and shot one of the residents in a home-invasion style robbery.

The Pitt County Sheriff's office says just before 3 this morning a man broke into a home at 2026 Corbitt Avenue in Greenville and held-up the two men inside. Deputies say the burglar shot one of the men in the back before getting away. The Sheriff's office says the man who was shot has been released from the hospital.

The growing number of home invasion robberies just reinforces that OWNING a gun isn't good enough. If you're sitting in your living room and some thugs kick in your front door, that shotgun in your bedroom closet isn't going to do you much good. Buy a handgun. Get some training. And CARRY at all times--at home, when you go out--ALL the time. Self defense is a PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, and the police have NO DUTY or legal obligation to be your personal bodyguards... Wake up Greenville. Will 2011 be the year that Law Abiding Citizens finally grow a spine, and take back our nation from criminals, thugs, and sociopaths? I hope so...

I agree a home invasion would probably end a shooting.

haha is exactly right...the response time to calls is also much faster, and to roy...yes, they r not just hanging out running radar...deputies can now focus more on calls such as break ins, stolen property, etc... There are more deputies on the road--and don't forget that we still have hwy patrol and gpd w/ radars. at least at 1st glance i think neil is doing a good job

Shame, If the victims had shot back they would be in jail and awaiting trial. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Pitt County no longer use there radars. They all been turned in so there for they are not out there running radars. I did hear they were taken out of cars about 2 weeks ago. Just because you see a deputy sitting on the highway does not mean he is running a radar... Silly Roy...

I hope the Pitt Co. Sheriff Department will try and solve these type cases, and not be out on hwy 11 at Ayden running radar, like they were doing four or five days ago.

If a home invasion style robbery occurs at my residence it will end in a shooting as well.

What in the world is a "home-invasion style robbery?? Is that different than someone breaking into your home and trying to rob you?? If they are armed and you are in fear for your life is it allowable to shoot in self defense in one but not the other type of robbery??
