High Speed Chase Spans Two Counties

A 21 year old is under arrest after lawmen say he led them on a chase in two counties overnight. Lawmen say the chase ended whtn the fleeing vehicle hit a deer.

John Millaway faces several charges after the chase that started on Carolina Ave. in Washington around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Captain Kenneth Watson with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. Watson says Millaway changed direction, ran a stop sign and sped south on Highway 17. The deputy started to chase the vehicle.

Captain Watson says Millaway continued on Highway 17 in Craven County, where he threw something out the window of his vehicle. The chase then returned to Beaufort County on the dirt portion of Haw Branch Rd. It ended when Millaway hit a deer on Gray Rd. At that point, Watson says Millaway was taken into custody without incident.

Millaway was charged with Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, DWI, Speeding in a Work Zone, Aggressive Driving to Endanger, Left of Center, and Failure to Burn Two Headlamps. He was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $5,300 secured bond.

Hey guys, Why is this listed in news stories today 7/20. It had been up, and was televised too. Has it been a slow news night in the coverage areas?

DWI is the charge regardless of alcohol or controlled substance. DWI means Driving While Impaired. Not driving while intoxicated...

It is a shame to see young women such as "Tasha" be so blind. It's ok sometimes to defend your friend, but when your friend is running from the police, and has prior charges it is time to wake up and realize that maybe he is just a Thug or maybe you just like to make threat to people and stir the pot

Ok, let me make sure I have this correct. He's a good boy, just misunderstood. His mother is a saint that got tainted by a bad seed. When will we all wake up and call a drug dealing thug a thug?? Do we have to sit back and wait for his 3rd strike, or can we just send him up the river now?!

I know bail is suppose to be a way to make someone come to court and not punishment, but this guy already proved he will run if given a chance. Maybe the magistrate knew that Seth Edwards (the DA that you all elected) was going to reduce this to a seatbelt ticket anyway once it goes to court in about 3-4 YEARS!!!!!
