UPDATE: Charges Filed After High Speed Chase

An Ayden man is facing several charges after police say he led them on a high speed chase before crashing into a telephone pole.

Winterville Police say Kevin Gardner of Ayden ran the stoplight at Old Tar Rd. and Fire Tower Rd. at 10:45 p.m. Thursday. As he headed east on Firetower, police say Gardner lost control, hit a telephone pole, then ran from the car. Officers chased Gardner on foot for about 50 feet before apprehending him.

Gardner and a passenger were both taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Officials say Gardner is charged with speeding, driving with license revoked, resisting an officer, fleeing to elude arrest, possession with the intent to sell and deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

I always figured if you are going to run from the law, there is a method to the madness. You should never get into a vehicle chase....they always win. A foot chase before the cavalry joins in is your only hope...... but then again..... that's pretty dumb too. Never-mind!

To Frank: Yep and don't forget the doctors bill. Look at that face. He saw a doctor. Billed to Taxpayer. These people totally perplex me. All they are is grown children acting a fool. And ALL the adults(taxpayers) have to feed and cloth them because they seem totally incapable of doing so on their own. Sad, really sad.

Oh good for him. What does this qualify for, 2 weeks in jail and the taxpayers front the cost of fixing the telephone pole and lines? Oh i'm sorry, i'm sure that he will pay for this out of his paycheck. Oh, wait a minute, he is living off of the government probably, so we are still paying for it.
