High School Student Critically Injured After Fight

A fight that police say began inside a Greenville nightclub has left a high school student critically injured while another teen is in jail for trying to kill her.

Shaquille Cannon was arrested today on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

Greenville police say they got a call around 12:20 a.m. near the FUZION nightclub on West Fifth Street for a large fight. Later Pitt County Memorial Hospital called to say the victim, Jennifer Godley, was critically injured after being hit in the head with a blunt object.

The 16-year-old Godley is a ninth grader at North Pitt High School.

Police say their investigation shows a large fight between several groups of teenage girls began inside the nightclub and it spilled out into the parking lot and then to Nash Street near West Third Street. Police say they believe that's where Godley was assaulted.

The 17-year-old Cannon is still being processed by Greenville police.

In December one man was killed and another wounded during a shooting at the nightclub parking lot.

ITS REALLY DISAPPOINTING TO COME UP HERE AND READ THE POSTED COMMENTS SOME PEOPLE ARE WRITING. HOW DARE SOME OF U TO JUDGE WHEN NEITHER OF U HAVE ANY CLUE ABOUT THE TEENS INVOLVED!!!!! I AM 21 AND ALSO HAVE A 5YR...SO DO THE MATH I WAS A TEEN MOM ALSO. THAT DOES NOT MAKE US LESS THAN ANYONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE A CHILD IN THEIR TEENS...U SAY GROW UP BUT YOUR WORDS ABOUT THIS SUBJECT IS VERY IMMATURE AND IGNORANT. IT WAS A BIRTHDAY PARTY. DO NOT STRAY SO MUCH ON THIS TOPIC WHEN THERE IS GROWN ADULTS CONSTANTLY FIGHTING IN CLUBS OR SHOOTING IN PUBLIC. I AM SO SICK OF PEOPLE TRYING TO DOWN OTHERS WHEN NO ONE IS PERFECT. U POST THINGS BUT YET U COULD BE IN A SITUATION YOUR SELF BUT WHO ARE WE TO JUDGE. WORRY ABOUT YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND WHAT YOUR KIDS ARE DOING BEFORE YOU GIVE YOU OPINION. TWO FAMILIES ARE FIGHTING TO SAVE THEIR CHILDRENS LIVES AND SOME OF YOU COULD GIVE A TWO CENTS...YOU WANT FACTS TV THERE IT IS!!!!!

It is crime not crme. Ain't may be in the dictionary, but it is listed as slang. Using it here is improper. Double negatives are incorrect in English. If I had to grade your post, it would earn a solid 60. (In Pitt County Schools, the lowest grade you can give a student the first 6 weeks is a 60. You cannot hurt the little darlings feelings or discourage them by giving them the grade they earned.)

Grammer does have something to do with people taking you seriously, learn to speak, then learn to spell. Ebonics... love the apostrophe for no reason, but you most likely refer to it as comma to the top...

"Grammer"? Really?? You should probably have a group session with Tati on the spelling. And while you're at it, work on separating your sentences. If you're language skills are lackluster, why would you criticize someone else's?

My question is if this is a nightclub for adults how are 16 year olds getting in? Where is security? This just don't make any sense and could have been prevented.

Here is a startling report from MSNBC- w.msnbc.msn.com/id/42364656/ns/health-kids_and_parenting/1 in 5 US moms have babies with multiple dads, study says poverty, lack of education and divorce perpetuate lack of opportunities. Women with children from multiple fathers tend to be disadvantaged compared to other moms. “They are more likely to be under-employed, to have lower incomes, and to be less educated,Women with low income and little education were also more likely to have children with different birth fathersWhile these women tended to be poorer than others to begin with, their whole lifetimes continue to be disadvantaged," The NAACP, the SCLC, the ACLU, and other special interest groups should focus on this epidemic.

56% are African American, while only 22% are white. What does this say about the black culture. To many babies by to many daddys.

its *too, not *to. Strong remark, would have been better and more valid with correct spelling. My kids do the same; I blame it on the computer age, but hey, those who are made to read, also learn how to spell. Folks, take your kids to the library. Will help those souls that cannot speak or write correct English.
