High Winds Cause Ferry Route Suspensions

The Department of Transportation announced Friday morning they would be suspending one ferry route, and potentially more as the winter winds rip across eastern North Carolina.

The Hatteras Ferry was suspended Friday morning as winds at 40 miles per hour, gusting at 50 miles per hour, in addition to shallow inlet waters made operations unsafe.

The DOT also announced other operations may be tabled fro weather: the Pamlico Sound routes from Swan Quarter and Cedar Island to Ocracoke could also suspend operations.

For updated information, call the Hatteras terminal at (252)-986-2353.
