New Records Set As Mercury Climbs Into Upper 90's

Several new records were set as temperatures broke into the upper 90's today across Eastern Carolina for the first time this year.

Greenville, Goldsboro and New Bern all set new records with 97 degree readings, while Kinston tied an existing record.

In Washington the mercury climbed to 99 degrees, with a heat index of 110 at 3:00 p.m.. Beaufort and Havelock reached 98, while Richlands stood at 97 degrees.

Some other hot places in Eastern Carolina Tuesday include Edenton and Rocky Mount at 96, Ahoskie at 95, and 90 degrees at Hatteras.

    I'm glad there is no global warming. Otherwise it would be really hot!
