A heat advisory has been posted for much of eastern North Carolina on Tuesday. Temperatures will soar well into the 90s to 100° with moderate relative humidity levels. Heat indices will reach 105° to 110° in most locations. There will be lots of sunshine and that will intensify the impact of the heat. Only isolated or stray thunderstorms are expected. Some relief from the intense heat can be expected at the end of the week when afternoon highs drop to around 90°.
