NEW INFO: Driver Charged After Lenoir County Crash

One driver has been charged after a near head-on crash this morning outside of Kinston.

The Highway Patrol says the accident sent both drivers to Lenoir Memorial Hospital, with one driver possibly having a broken leg.

The accident happened shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Highway 11 south at Ashland Drive. Troopers say Paul Garvey of Kinston was southbound and turned in front of another vehicle heading into town. Garvey was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

How is this crash an "accident" WITN? Your use of such language suggests that nothing could have been done to prevent it and that no one is at fault.

Niece Continued healing for uncle. We cam close Christmas night. We did a round day trip to see family. All the way up all drivers were courteous traffic was light. South bound from Norfolk dead of night again all things well "UNTIL" we just stop at the restarea on 17 right near New Bern. Had pottied and changed drivers. After turning on 43S about a mile in and a car coming at us drifted across the center line. My wife slowed eased to the shoulder as this fool caught it and went back to the lane. Very scary feeling. Be careful peoples. Happy New Year.

You know the NC State Troopers and other divisions protect their own. It's been that way forever.
