HURRICANE IRENE: Thousands Of Dead Fish In Bertie County

After Hurricane Irene blew through, thousands of dead fish have shown up in one creek in Bertie County.

The fish are in a tributary that flows into the Middle River outside of Merry Hill.

It appears there's no oxygen in the water and the fish are suffocating. There are reports of this happening in other locations as well.

Right now some local residents are trying to relocate as many fish as they can in an effort to save them.
