Grimesland Man Charged After Shooting Himself In Privates

A Grimesland man has been charged after deputies say he filed a false police report about him being shot earlier this month.

Deputies say instead Michael Gibbs shot himself in his private parts.

Gibbs told deputies that on September 3rd someone shot him at Silverado Mobile Home Park. He was arrested Thursday for possession of a firearm by a felon and identity theft after being released from Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Deputies say they are still investigating how Gibbs shot himself.
