The owner of a Pitt County business that was gutted by a lunch time fire believes an electrical problem started the blaze.
Multiple volunteer fire departments battled the fire at Ed's Marine Service on Highway 33 in Grimesland.
The first fire units were called around 12:15 p.m.
Thick black smoke poured out of the metal frame building as firefighters battled to control the blaze.
Owner Britt Buck says he started to smell something electrical burning and looked around the business and couldn't find anything. He said a few minutes later he went to where his computer and printer were and saw the fire.
Buck says he managed to get the one boat out of the building, but engines and other parts inside were lost.
The owner says the business was started some 27 years ago by his dad, and he took over seven years ago when his father passed away.
Authorities are still investigating how the fire began.
