My family attended the Celebration of Lydia Gray Byrd's life this morning. The service was a tribute to God through the way this little girl and her family have lead their lives. God has provided the guidance, direction, strength and grace for all of this precious family's needs. If you don't know the God this family serves, I beg you to go to their blog byrdhouse-byrdnest.blogspot.com. God bless you as you walk through this triumphant experience with the Byrds.

To those who post comments of how could a God allow something like this to happen, I pray that God will show Himself to you. God's ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Hundreds of people, if not thousands, have been touched by this child's unwaivering simple love for her Jesus and Her Saviour, even at the tender age of seven. And if some of those people are drawn closer to God in their personal relationship with Him, then God's absolute perfect will was accomplished, and I know for a fact the Byrd family believes this with all their heart. God, Lydia's heavenly father, created us and we are His, and He was ready for Lydia to come home to be with Him and her earthly parents understand that bibical truth. We love our children, but I promise you that God loves them infinitely more.

Your family will continue to be in our prayers. Just look at all of the lives she has touched and what a wonderful testimony to the short life she lived.

Let me just say that you shouldnt question anyone's beliefs. I lost a child to a tumor on a brain stem and GOD does have a reason for everything he does, he takes children away from us and takes them home to be angels with him. They have a purpose while they are here, it is served and then they are gone. The pain that this family has suffered through is heart wrenching because it is pain to see your child go through something that you can't control!! God Bless the Byrd family!!!!

So heart wrenching to see two articles back to back about children's funerals. It's just not supposed to be that way. However, we can't question God's plan. My prayers are for both families who have lost young children in the recent days.

Of course the family wouldn't mind this public announcement... if you follow the news or are on Facebook you've heard about this little girl and her story. A great many people were praying for her and reading her updates... WITN does a great job covering stories that affect our community. My condolences to this family in their time of sorrow.

Same with this article.....did the family request a public announcement of this? If not, WITN you're sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.

To Anonymous...you seem to be the one sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. This is a tragic story but has touched many people. WITN has followed Lydia's story since the beginning and is just bringing closure for the people who have been following it with them. Please keep negative comments to yourself. Lydia was amazing, the Byrd family is amazing and Jesus's grace and love in the midst of trails is amazing. If you don't know Jesus, I urge you to seek him so you can have the joy the Byrd family has had during this storm.

To Mom...Anonymous is not taking anything from her family if their faith is as strong as you say it is...they're going to believe just the way they want to believe...I'm sorry they lost their child too, but it's everyone's choice to believe the way they want to, just like it's everyone's choice to voice their opinions...have a good day Mom...

i think it wasnt quite an appropriate thing to say for this story, but im glad it was said, because it prompted good christian people to share Jesus with either you or another 'anonymous'. if your heart wasnt touched, you wouldntve even looked at the story, let alone posted.
