Greenville City Council To Hold Meeting On Position Vacancies

The Greenville City Council will hold a special meeting at 6:00 p.m. Monday night to talk about filling the vacancies in three high profile city positions.

The Greenville police chief, city manager and public works director positions all need to be filled after the subsequent resignations of their former holders.

In three straight weeks Police Chief William Anderson, City Manager Wayne Bowers and Public Works Director Wes Anderson all announced they would be stepping down before the end of March. All of these are major city positions and could take months to fill.

The meeting Monday will be open to the public.

WITN will be at the meeting and bring you updates on and on WITN News at 11 p.m.

The truth of the matter is they are only going to appoint someone to those positions that will buy into their insane ideas and act as a puppet. What is the use of having a Department head if the City Council will not entrust them to run their Department.

The Greenville city council needs to resign and new members appointed or elected. They are not helping the city at all. Its almost too late to save Greenville.

City Council to choose the Chief of Police? The Mayor? Hmmm....sounds like they don't believe in the regular method of choosing; VOTING. The glory days of Greenville are fast leaving; City Council better get busy trying to bust crime and revive the area, or they will be a 'ghost town'.

Uh oh. Someone whose company has multiple open claims against them with the Department of Labor probably shouldn't get involved in this situation.

According to some chatter something big is going down and we should hear about it within the next 3-4 weeks. Don't be to surprised to see more heads on the chopping block.

You nailed it!!! You have a part-time council that is trying to micro manage everything and they can't manage anything. They all have their own agenda. Councilperson Kandi Smith said it was a conspiracy. That was a careless comment typical of this group.

Glad I don't live in Greenville any longer. What a mess this City has become. When most folks don't vote or pay attention to elections, you get what you deserve. And now, you've got a hot mess governing this city.
