Greenville City Council Appoints Interim City Manager

While Greenville continues to search for a new city manager they have made their decision for who will fill the position temporarily.

The Greenville City Council voted to hire Assistant City Manager Thomas Moton as interim city manager starting March 1. He'll temporarily fill the void left by retiring city manager Wayne Bowers.

The city council will meet again February 16 to narrow down prospective search firms to conduct the search for Bowers' replacement. The city also has to find a new police chief and public works director.

Hey citizens of Greenville. Don't you just love how the council just throws your tax dollars around. Watch for some kind of city service fees to be raised. If not, just overall taxes to pay for "companies/organizations/consultants" whatever you want to call them. Just for a city manager. Someone qualified is already being put into the interim. Why not the position? I love it when elected officials think.

Since he has been the Assistant City Manager why not just hire him as the City Manager and be done with it?? Its common sense people!! In addition it amazes me how companies/organizations would rather hire from the outside than hire someone that's qualified from the inside. What's wrong with that picture?? And to make matters worse they turn around and have you train that person to do their job. Now aint that a .....??

I agree! They should hire Thom Moton as the new City Manager, and save the thousands of dollars they plan on spending searching for a new City Manager! But thats too easy!!
