Armed robbers targeted two Greenville restaurants Thursday night and into Friday morning.
Mario McLawhorn is in the Pitt County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. Police say the 23-year old walked into the Waffle House at 810 S. Memorial Drive around midnight. They got the call at 12:06 a.m.
Police say three employees were inside when McLawhorn threatened them with a handgun and demanded cash. He took the entire cash draw and got away with $305.38. A short time later an officer spotted him nearby wearing all black. He was arrested.
Just two hours earlier police were dispatched to the Bojangles at 1632 Farmville Boulevard for a robbery in progress.
Police say two men walked in while several employees and customers were inside. One man had a handgun.
Witnesses tell police one jumped counter and went toward the office. The other went to register at the drive thru.
Both suspects were described as black men. The one with the gun was wearing a black jacket and pants. He's 5'6" to 5'7", 130-135 pounds. The second man is about 6' to 6'1", 200-215 lbs. He was wearing blue jeans with white shoes.
Police don't believe the two robberies were connected.
