Greenville Police are going directly into the neighborhoods they serve, explaining their plans, and goals to keep the people living in the city safe. Police are hosting a series of public forums on crime prevention, safety, and other topics at different places around the city.
Tuesday night, Chief Hassan Aden and other officers were at the Barnes-Ebron-Taft Community Center in the Greenfield Terrace neighborhood. Along with fraud prevention and the department's zone deployment plan, one of the things Chief Aden discussed was accountability in the police department. He specifically referred to a detective that was caught stealing narcotics last fall.
"The way that we handled it was commendable. We didn't just terminate the employee or fire the employee. We actually investigated it," said Chief Aden.
Greenville Police tell us they'll continue to notify us about future forums. They say they'll let us know a couple of weeks in advance. We'll post the information on witn.com.
