Two people were seriously injured in Greene County while 30 others were also hurt after tornadoes ripped through the area. In Snow Hill many homes and businesses were destroyed and survivors have incredible tales to tell.

Connie Owens says she was inside her home in a closet wearing a helmet when the tornado picked up the home, spun her around, and she landed 40 feet from where the original foundation was. "I got several big chunks in the top of that helmet so the stuff that was hitting my head, that helmet saved my life."

Lindsey Jones and her husband were inside the hallway of their Middle School Road home when the tornado hit. "Like a freight train, for us it sounded like our house was being twisted apart and it was."

Many in Greene County are out assessing the damage and trying to cleanup the disaster. Officials say a preliminary damage estimate is $7 million.
