Greene County Middle School was wiped out by a tornado a couple years ago. Repairs are nearly complete, and students and staff are excited to finally be back in their school this fall. Meanwhile they watch what's going on in Oklahoma and are thankful no one was killed at the middle school in 2011.
April 16, 2011 a tornado touched down and destroyed Greene County Middle School in Snow Hill. Superintendent Patrick Miller says it happened on a weekend which spared lives.
"We were very fortunate here in that we only lost a building. We didn't lose any lives. Unfortunately, they were not as fortunate as we were. It happened on a Saturday night. There were no students in the building and that was a blessing for us here in Greene County," said Miller.
Miller says students are expected to start classes in the Repaired school in August.
