Good Samaritan Saves Child At Crash Scene

A little boy is alive because of a Good Samaritan at a crash scene in Onslow County Saturday.

Troopers tell WITN News Angelina Vasquez of Kinston and her two-year-old son were both hurt when their vehicle ran off the road to the right, hit a ditch, went airborne and flipped several times, landing on the roadway. It happened about 10 a.m. Saturday on Vine Swamp near Elm Grove Road.

Troopers say the child was not breathing at the scene, but a good samaritan came to the wreck and took care of the child until EMS arrived. The child has a severe leg injury but is listed in fair condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, where both he and his mother were flown.

There is no word what caused the crash.

Thank God this person knew CPR and how to react in a true emergency. As an American Heart Association CPR instructor I can tell you that CPR is not only easy to learn but it is something that EVERYONE should know. You never know when you might need it. If you don't know CPR contact your local hospital or community college about getting into a class. The life you save could be that of someone you hold very dear. Thank you to the Good Samaritan who stopped and saved this child's life. You are truly a hero and a wonderful person. Thanks again and may God richly bless you.
