A Wayne County principal has received high marks from a national organization as the state's most distinguished principal.
Lisa Tart will represent North Carolina as the nominee chosen by the National Association of Elementary School principals.
Tart is the leader at Grantham School in Goldsboro. Last year, Tart launched an initiative in which she identified model classrooms in her school based on student achievement improvements.
Tart will find out if she is named the nation's most outstanding elementary school principal between Oct. 20 and 21 in Washington D.C.
