An 11-year-old from the east was among those attending a camp Thursday at Virginia Tech when the school was put on lockdown because of a possible gunman.
Preston Bridgers of Goldsboro was at the Virginia Tech campus attending an arts, science, and technology camp. The campus was put on lockdown after other campers reported seeing a man with a possible gun underneath a cloth on the campus.
Bridgers was taken to a suite with the other students while police searched the campus.
Bridgers father Jody says it was especially scary to him because of the massacre that happened back in 2007. "You're one of those parents that has to worry if your child is going to come out or not, and you thought about bombs, everything you know this is the time we are living in, you just think about anything's possible."
The school gave the all clear later Thursday afternoon. Students and faculty on campus were alerted about what was going on through text and email.
