GUC Crews To Help Massachusetts After Snowstorm, Power Outages

Greenville Utilities crews are headed to the northeast to help with massive power outages after a snowstorm this weekend.

Jeff Byrd with GUC says it's sending 18 trucks and more than 30 workers to help restore power in Massachusetts. Following a massive snowstorm that dropped record amounts of snow, more than 500,000 homes and businesses across that state were still without power Monday, with millions more across the region

"Every person that's lights out is important to us because we know they are suffering and cold. They can't fix their meals. Their lives have just been disrupted because the power's out, so it doesn't matter whether its millions or just one, people need electricity. Where it's part of our society, and they're hurting," said Jeff Byrd with Greenville Utilities

Utility companies in the northeast say it could be several days before power is completely restored.
