GREENVILLE PD the highest paid city police force in the state with now one of the worst crime problems in the state as it seems to be. They tell us they have things under control but we still have gang problems and shootings.I would hate to see out of control. With all GPD officers w/ 4 year degrees and big pay checks it looks like we would have CONTROL. The Cheif needs to be a Cheif and stop playing political games. We need to see some real results for the price the tax payers are paying! This should not be something that is brought before CITY COUNCIL to talk about. This is CRIME what the GPD should be doing.LOCK THIS PEOPLE UP AND STOP PLAYING!!!!!

MR. A lot of ignorant comments posted. The police and correctional system, as well as the local community know those gang affiliated. GPD obviously has been doing their job since as most of you said -you have seen some of the names listed here as arrested before. Why would anyone know when or every time police or GPD arrests someone? Ignorant people-if the media gives you information it may or may not be accurate or complete. Try sitting in on some of the court hearings- attend the meetings- join in to assist or shut up.

Finally the GPD seems to be actually doing something for a change, rather than sitting parked on campus at night waiting to write college kids drinking tickets.

They all should be held without bond.Everytime one gets out on bond I guess they think he is a good boy until trial.Kee them locked up and no contact with the outside and watch some of this mess stop

Since when is failure to appear and failing to register as a sex offender gang related crimes?! Sounds like the Chief wants to make a bunch of arrests and then call it Gang Suppression. Didn't Pitt Co used to have a IMPACT Unit that suppressed the real gang activity? I think the Chief did away with them didn't he?! Smooth move Chief...

Suggestion for WITN: How about doing a follow-up story on these arrests in late October, just before the elections, detailing exactly how many of these individuals have been re-arrested and the sentences that the judges have handed down. Be sure to identify each judge by name...they are not entitled to remain anonymous as they are expected to do their part in making our streets safer. We can't put all of the blame on the police when the judges are issuing "slaps on the wrist."

amen! They will probably only get a slap on the wrist, then they are free to do whatever to whoever they wish. Throw the book at them. Let the gang members know that their behavior is intolerable. Be firm!
