Funeral Held For Jacksonville Woman Killed In Crash

Family and friends gathered Saturday afternoon to say goodbye to their loved one. Troopers say Cheryl Berry of Jacksonville was killed in a crash caused by a drunk driver.

According to an obituary the funeral service for 53-year-old Cheryl Berry of Jacksonville was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Trent River Oakey Grove Headquarters Building.

Berry's obituary says she was a postal clerk with the U.S. Post Office and that she was a member of St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church.

According to troopers Berry was killed last Saturday on Highway 17 after 40-year-old Ronald Mehrley drove drunk, crossed the center line, and struck Berry's car head on. Berry's husband Charles was driving at the time. He was injured, but is expected to be okay.

This is Mehrley's second DWI charge. Mehrley has since posted bond and is out of jail.
