Fundraiser For Recovering Rock Band Drummer

Friends and fans are helping raise money to pay the medical bills of Scott Thomas, the drummer for Parmalee. He was shot in South Carolina two months ago.

Thomas was shot during an attempted robbery on the rock band's tour bus after a show in Rock Hill, S.C. He has been recovering ever since, and benefit organizers say his medical bills have topped $250,000 so far.

The Friday night event called, Rock 4 Scott, takes place at Tie Breakers in Greenville at 8 p.m. Organizers say 100% of door proceeds and a percentage of food and beverage sales will go to the fund to pay for Scott's medical expenses.

Several local music acts will perform at the event. Thomas will attend if he is well enough, and the rest of the band members from Parmalee are expected to be there.

Scott, I hope everything continues to go good for you. There are those of us that loved you before this happened and continue to love you now. People please don't respond to "jay", he's like a child looking for attention. The more you give him, the nastier his comments will get. Just say a short prayer for this inconsiderate idiot! Oops!! Thanks for keeping everyone informed WITN.

Scott Thomas and Parmalee are all amazing men and I am proud to call them friends...It is so nice to see all the support Scott is getting during this terrible is a shame to see negative comments..Scott, Matt, Barry and Josh would gladly give anyone the shirts off of their backs and the last dollar in their pocket if they were told someone needed it more than they did...Scott and Parmalee are in my prayers everyday......Love you Scotty Dooooo! and Jay...I sure hope you find your heart hidden deep down must be sad to live your life so bitter...

It is great to see a community come together to help in a time of need. However, this is a reminder that everyone should purchase health insurance...If this would have happened to me I would be out my deductible and max coinsurance totaling $3000 and insurance would pay the rest. All individuals have the option to get health insurance. Take care of yourself before something like this happens and the hospital is unpaid causing everyone else health insurance cost to go up.

Cool, I'll be there to support. You know, this drummer is just another human being among thousands that's faced with high medical bills. Wouldn't it be nice if communities would come together to take care of all who're in this position? sad to say but that's not the case.

Jay, like the band or not, the compassion shown by fans, complete strangers, and club and business owners around town have made for a great story of caring not often seen now. Stories like this are a breath of fresh air to the all to often shooting or arrest that has to be reported. I commend WITN for their coverage of the benefits for Scott and the band.

Anybody know how many benefit shows there have been? I've been to a few and I don't know how many I've had to ignore on Facebook. I've seen cover charges donated, buckets passed around, merchandise auctioned. How much has been donated so far?
