We're starting to learn more information about the four victims of Friday's Greenville shootings outside the Kellum Law Firm and Walmart.
Greenville Police released their identities Monday afternoon. All are still in post-operation recovery from very serious, visible injuries.
The family and friends we got in contact with didn't want to talk on camera, but did give us an update on their loved one's condition.
The first is 64-year old Timothy Edwards of Greenville. He was the first victim shot outside of the Kellum Law Firm on Greenville Boulevard while sitting in his GEICO Insurance vehicle.
The manager of that law firm, attorney Russ Needell, said it was a devastating experience for employees. "They've known him for many, many years, and he'd just been in our office dropping off a check and paperwork for one of our clients and had chatted with us about his future, and hopeful retirement at some point, in the near future."
70-year old Carroll Oakes of Grifton was one of the three shooting victims in the Walmart parking lot.
We spoke with his family over the phone Monday night, and while they chose not to speak on camera, they say Oakes is in good spirits, recovering in the hospital. They say one concern doctors do have is that it may take awhile for Oakes to gain full use of his hand, which was shot. They also say he was shot in the arm and stomach.
69-year old Vernon Leggett of Greenville was another Walmart victim. Neighbors tell us he was shot in the back, and then in the head, while walking from his truck parked towards the back of the parking lot. They say he lost a kidney and spleen, and is still recovering in the hospital. His family has requested privacy while he heals.
Police say the final Walmart shooting victim was 50-year-old Haywood Wichard Junior of Greenville. We have not spoken with any of Wichard's family or neighbors, but Chief Hassan Aden says each victim is expected to survive.
