Free Clinic Opens In The East

The Health Support And Need Center opened Saturday in Fountain, Pitt County.

Jacqueline Newton, the CEO and founder of the clinic wanted the people of Fountain and those nearby to have access to care they may not otherwise be able to get due to a lack of transportation or not knowing how to find affordable health care.

We spoke with her about why the clinic is so important to the community: “Just because its a free clinic and they're getting free services, I believe its going to be the best services because they wont have to worry about co-pay they wont have to worry about their prescriptions. We will take care of all of that "

The clinic provides primary health care and is open to all Pitt County residents.

Drug test everyone who wants anything "Free". If there are drugs in their system, send them out the door no matter what. If I have to work to pay others bills, then at least let them be drug "free". If you haven't work in the US for 10 years, you shouldn't draw a dime. If you don't pay it im, then you shouldn't draw anyting.

To all of you who are complaining, stop it..If a free clinic is available use it, if we can get affordable or no cost care we should have it. Why can't our country take care of the citizens here? Other countries do it, also to those of you who complain about illegals..How many of you are willing to pick cucumbers or crop tobacco?? Not one of you will do those jobs anyway, and as for those who are too lazy to work and are able you should have any funding to you cut off until your lazy butt gets a job and if you are able to get assistance you must pass a drug test each month..So yeah Im all for free or affordable health care for us ALL..

I guess a little research show the Health Support and Needs Center to be a faith based non-profit. It seems to garner most if not all of its support through donations to various faith based organizations. This is much different than a government funded free clinic and I support it. This is the way free clinics should be established. The only government perk they will get is the tax break that comes with being a non-profit.

You can get affordable health care in instead of agreeing to everything done to you. Ask how much does that cost. The deside how much you can afford. I do it. I also do not go running to the doctor every time I sneeze or get a paper cut.

This might be helpful if someone could figure a way to get affordable labs tests and medicine too. I am not able to manage my diabetes properly because every time I go to the doctor, they want to run $600 in blood tests. The meds are over $300/month too, (just for diabetes). I have no insurance, and can not qualify for medicaid because I own the land my mobile home is on. I'm happy to have a job, but sometimes I feel I should look to become "disabled" like so many others. I get by the best I can, but seeing illegal immigrants and baby-mommas getting endless medical handouts galls me in a big way!

I work in Medicaid and if you have been told you cannot receive Medicaid because you own the land your mobile home is on, that may not be right. If you actually live in the mobile home & you live on the land, or it is contiguous to your homesite, it would be exempt. If you do not live on the property, but live else where, then it is possibly countable. To qualify for Medicaid, and you are under age 65, you must be disabled or have a minor child in the home that you are financially resposible for. But if the MH is your current home and it is on the land you own, that property should not be countable.

You are someone I would feel good about helping helping. You are a US citizen who is working and you deserve some help. However, all these illegals and low lifes who are not working getting all their medical bills and medicines free is just not right!!!WE HAVE A VERY STUPID GOVERNMENT FOR LETTING THIS HAPPEN DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY!! And, it will only get worse if Obama get elected........

Does anyone really believe it's free?? What it is - is using other people's money to pay for the care. It is an insult that these "do-gooders" claim that the care they provide is "free" All that such BS does is reflect negatively on their integrity.

Free healthcare?? That is the problem with our country today... That's why illegals flock over here because of all the free stuff... That's why people don't work for things... It's free to them - but not to us taxpayers...

No joker , it is not free. it is paid for by tax dollars. As the late Robert Heinlein stated " there ain't no such thing as a free lunch".Some of us work and have insurance, some feel that they are entitled to have others pay for their insurance ( or lack there of).I am glad that the clinic will be there for those who honestly cannot afford medical insurance. However it will soon be clogged up by others who feel entitled to all the " free" resources available ( except for education and help finding jobs).
