Two More Shootings In Kinston

Two more shootings have occurred in Kinston, after four homes this weekend were struck by gunfire.

Police say Tuesday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. they got a call about a vehicle struck by gunfire. Marvin Davis told them he was driving in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East Lenoir avenue. Police recovered shell casings in the area of East Lenoir and Raleigh Street and witnesses told police the shooter was driving a burgundy two-door car.

Then early this morning police responded to a home on East Lenoir Avenue where a bullet had struck a home. Officers found the bullet in a hallway closet.

No one was injured in either shooting.

This past weekend four homes were hit in three different shooting cases. Police said it appears those were all drive-by shootings and they were investigating whether they all were connected.

The next shooting happened Sunday around 6:20 p.m. at 1507 1/2 Stroud Avenue. That home was struck once by gunfire, while those inside reported hearing two or three gun shots.

The final shooting happened around 10:50 p.m. on Williams Street. In that case two homes, one at 816 and the other at 818, were hit numerous times by bullets.

The three locations are just several blocks from each other. Police say they haven't made any arrests.

Everyone understands who does most of the drive by shooting's. Sounds like the police need to insert more officers in certain neighborhoods. Now if someone could figure out why they shoot up everything and each other maybe they could be helped.

We need a Police Chief not Johnson. He does not have a clue about Police work/investigation. The new city manager needs to go back to Police and Fire being separate. All we have is a BLET certified only Police Chief. He needs to go through his field training.

With all the attention the media is giving this I for see the law in acting something like the old west. All weapons will be surrendered at the city limits and will be returned upon your departure. The only ones to carry a weapon will be law enforcement personnel. They will take extreme measure until they get it under control. That will be there first step across the nation. I can hear the activist screaming now.

All that clown will do is create another "task force" to study crime. In the meantime crime will get worse. I agree, he does seem to be more concerned about his own image and political future.
