Former State House Representative Found Guilty Of Simple Assault

A Lenoir Country judge found a former politician guilty of simple assault, according to the Kinston Free Press.

Van Braxton of Lenoir County was charged after Ray Wiley said Braxton shoved him in a heated argument over Braxton's wife and a campaign sign on election day in November 2010. Braxton, a Democrat, did not win his re-election bid for North Carolina State House representative.

If Braxton avoids future run-ins with the law, he will not be forced to serve any time.

He did not get what he deserved he should have gotten probation and a couple of days in jail! He is such a jerk. Stephen LaRoque has done more in the last few months than this jerk done in his whole term. True colors come out with some people. Ensign is no different he should go Republican or Democrat if you are dirty out you go . But if we did that who would run the Government?? LOL!

on the story of sen Ensign you let us know from the beginning he is a republican... but with Van Braxton i had to do some research to find out, gasp, he is a democrat..why would you tell the affiliation of one and omit the other/??? im thinking it is a classic example of left leaning bias on the part of WITN...i would love a coherant and honest answer

You had to do some research? They said it in the story... maybe the story was edited after your comment, but it's clear right there in the story that he's a democrat.

The headline for the Sen Ensign article stated republican sen ensign, while the Braxton headline did not. Braxton's article mentioned he was democrat, but not the headline.
