Former Marine Gets 10 Years For Trying To Meet 12 Year Old For Sex

A former Camp Lejeune Marine will serve 10 years in federal prison after admitting he tried to meet a 12-year-old girl for sex.

Shawn Dixon was sentenced yesterday in Raleigh. In March the 21-year-old pleaded guilty to attempting to entice a child to engage in illegal sexual conduct.

The feds say in December 2009 Dixon met the 12-year-old in an online chat room and say the relationship progressed with sexually explicit conversations and acts via live online video. In April 2010 a meeting was arranged, but a family member discovered the plans and notified authorities.

Dixon will have a register as a sex offender and a lifetime of supervised release after serving his prison sentence.

What does the fact that he was once enlisted in the Marine Corps have to do with the fact that he's a sick pervert? Does it play any relevance other than to destroy the reputation of a well respected organization? They make no mention of his separation classification, what his performance in the Marine Corps was like, They simply use that headline to bash a fine organization and gain sensationalism. WITN should be ashamed of itself.

Ryan, it adds sensation to the news story. That is why they do it. The same as if the accused was a police officer or some other political figure, even 10 years ago! Anything that can be added to make the story more dramatic, is welcomed. Drama sell's.. and people want it, end of story. As someone said earlier, it is just a sign of how low our country has sank when people treat the elderly and children this way, it should be no surpise that as a majority, people love drama.

No. Its not enough. Its 12:13 when I looked over the news on the home page. Six of the stories are about these perverts. You can judge a nation by how it treats its elderly and its young. God help us.
