A former Camp Lejeune Marine faces up to life in prison after his guilty plea in a child porn case.
Federal prosecutors say Shawn Dixon pleaded guilty today before U.S. District James Dever III in Raleigh to attempting to entice a child to engage in illegal sexual conduct.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says back in December 2009, Dixon met a 12-year-old in an online chat room. They say the relationship progressed with sexually explicit conversations and acts via online video. Then in April 2010, the feds say a meeting was arranged between the two with the intent of having sex. A family member discovered the planned meeting and notified authorities.
Dixon, whose case was part of Project Safe Childhood, will be sentenced in July.
