Robert Grenier, former White House liaison for the CIA, was the keynote speaker at the North Carolina Higher Education Safety Webinar and Symposium at ECU Friday. The meeting kicked off with a panel featuring Bill Stanton, security analyst for NBC. The event was part of a statewide meeting on campus safety.
Along with recent events, like the attack in Tucson, they also talked about issues on campus such as date rape and sexual assault, and how to try keep those crimes from occurring and how to respond if they do. The goal was to help school officials learn better ways to improve their security.
"There's a fine line, a fine balance that university college officials really need to walk, and they constantly have to be monitoring their own behavior, their own policies, plans, and procedures to make sure they are in the right place," said Grenier.
The experts also answered web questions and from the audience and talked about the problems of violence and bullying.
