A former minister in Mount Olive has been sentenced to more than a decade behind bars.
Timothy Strickland, who had been the pastor of Jones Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mount Olive, has been sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison followed by five years supervised release.
In May 2014, Strickland admitted he had thousands of child porn images on his computer devices. At that time, he pleaded guilty in Raleigh before a federal judge.
Federal authorities say in March 2013, an FBI task force officer was engaged in a chat with Strickland. During the chat, the agent saw that the man's directory had child porn files.
Officials say computer forensics revealed approximately 124,000 images of child pornography. Original arrest warrants said the victims were between 4 and 10 years old.
