Former Fire Chief Helps Put Out Fire At His House

Fire crews helped a former fire chief put out a fire in his garage.

Assistant Fire Chief Robbie Kennedy with Faison Fire and Rescue says they were called out to 578 Bill Clifton Road in Faison after 3:30 this afternoon.

He says that's the home of former fire chief Glenn Jernigan.

Apparently the former chief had put most of the fire out himself using a fire extinguisher and water hose, according to Kennedy.

Officials determined that there was a problem with the lawn mower in the garage, and that is what caused the fire.

There was some damage to two cars inside of the garage and the garage itself, but no one was injured.
