Four people accused in a shooting and attempted robbery in Pitt County will make their first court appearances Monday.
Hakiem Ruffin, Armani Newkirk, Christopher Williams and Talaya Lucas will have their first appearances in Pitt County District Court. The Pitt County Sheriff says a fifth suspect is involved, but his name is not being released because he is 15 years old.
Officials say the suspects tried to rob a person inside a car in Grimesland near the intersection of Ariel Dr. and Silverado Dr. on September 10. A 15-year-old was shot during the carjacking, but survived.
Pitt County deputies have arrested five people who they say were involved in shooting and attempted robbery at a mobile home park in Grimesland last weekend.
Hakiem Ruffin, Armani Newkirk, Christopher Williams, Talaya Lucas, and a 15 year old male have been arrested and charged with Assault With A Deadly Weapon With Intent To Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle Causing Serious Injury Attempted, Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.
According to the Pitt County Sheriff's Office the shooting happened on September 10 near the intersection of Ariel Drive and Silverado Drive in Grimesland.
Deputies say four people were inside a vehicle near that intersection when a group attempted to rob a juvenile that was inside the car. Deputies say the driver of the vehicle accelerated to avoid being robbed, but one of the suspect's shot into the vehicle. They say a 15-year-old male was shot and transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
